See why Blessing Okabgare failed to show up for her 200m race

Nigeria's hope of any major silverware at the IAAF World Athletics Championship in Beijing, were dashed after Queen of tracks Blessing Okagbare failed to show up for the 200m event which she has been registered to partake in.

The Punch reports with reference to sources in Beijing that the African champion was nursing an injury and decided against participating in the race so as not to aggravate it.

Her team at the ongoing championship have since blamed her poor performance in the 100m race as a result of her placing on the starters’ draw, where she started on lane nine despite the fact that she ended the semis as the second fastest athlete.

It can be recalled that Okagbare finished 8th at the 100m final on Monday.
