VOAN Pays courtesy visit to National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC); promises better and improved transport system in Nigeria

The National executives of the Vehicle Owners Association of Nigeria (VAON) led by its National President Hon (AMB) Odo Vincent Okoko yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, Engr. Aminu Jalal and his team.

The visit which was meant principally to introduce the VOAN and its activities to the Director General, had in attendance principal members of both bodies as well as journalists and other key stakeholders in the transport and automotive industry.


In his speech, the National President of the Vehicle Owners Association Hon Odo Vincent Okoko commended the DG, Engr Aminu Jalal and his team for the giant strides and achievements attained in the promotion of locally manufactured vehicles and components in Nigeria and the purchase of over 14 vehicle assembly plants. He also used the opportunity to thank the Director General for the proposed N7.5billion local car purchase loan scheme that will avail members of the public the opportunity of purchasing brand new vehicles.

“Today we are here to briefly introduce our association to you and also to commend your agency for its giant strides that have brought in over 14 vehicle assembly plants into Nigeria among other achievements.

Vehicle Owners Association of Nigeria (VOAN) like other similar associations the world over, was founded early last year and officially launched by the senate president to promote the growth and welfare of its members as well as the  Transport and Automobile Industry in Nigeria. Our vision is to Nigeria's most influential and credible voices in the transport and automobile sector, to become a formidable force in influencing sector policies and practices; with strong local and international recognition in all issues affecting the Nigeria Vehicle Owners, Vehicle supporting infrastructures, Vehicle Manufacturers, Auto Vendors, Vehicle consumables and other related industries"

We are anxiously waiting for the implementation of this game changing scheme which shall bring Nigerians at per with South African counterpart in terms of wide spread usage of brand new vehicles on our roads"

In his response, the Director General of the agency Engr Aminu Jalal thanked Hon Okoko and his team for their visit and promised to carry the association along in all its programs and activities. He also used the occasion to brief Nigerians on the progress made by the agency which includes public enlightenment on road worthiness, ensuring that vehicles meet safety standards, promoting the usage of only brand new vehicles among others.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of commendation card to the DG by the executive of VOAN and also group photographs.
