March 28: PDP on 'course' as presidential candidates of CPP, ADC Steps down for Jonathan

As the March 28 presidential election gathers steam, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has again recorded another gain as the Presidential Candidate of the Citizens Popular Party (CPP), Chief Sam Eke Tuesday
stepped down for President Goodluck Jonathan. This comes just a day after the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Mani Ahmed, also stepped down for President Jonathan.

Announcing the decision at a press briefing in Abuja chief Eke stated "After months of campaigns, wide consultation and deliberations as political party and opinion received from millions of our members, supporters and Nigerians across the country.

"CPP has decided to adopt President Goodluck Jonathan as our presidential candidate for March 28, 2015 Presidential election."

He added that, "We are also backing him that the challenges of internally displaced persons should be adequately addressed, that efforts should be increased in fighting corruption under the rule of law, that oil theft should be addressed quickly, that oil companies be made to play their roles as obtained in other countries, that the second Niger bridge be completed as planned and that the unity of Nigeria should not be subjected to any renegotiation."

Chief Eke called on all members of his party to muter their support to President Jonathan and Vice President Namadi Sambo.
